The Westmoreland Central School District is located in Westmoreland, NY; a small rural community located in central NY between Utica and Rome just off the NYS Thruway (Exit 32). Along with serving the children of Westmoreland, the district serves students from parts of 6 other neighboring municipalities: Rome, Whitestown, Vernon, Kirkland, Clinton, and Lowell. The approximately 1100 students in the district are located in 3 buildings: a K-4 Elementary School, a 5-8 Middle School, and the 9-12 High School. The staff is made up of approximately 90 teachers and 80 related service providers. District Highlights: Currently, the district is at the start of a 4.7 million dollar facilities upgrade that will include: new science classrooms at the High School, a New Multi-Purpose Facility (Auditorium) at the High School, and a new all weather track. A new Middle School was opened 6 years ago. Westmoreland CSD continues to strive to be a leader in instructional technology for the region. Over the past 5 years there has been widespread implementation of instructional technology including teacher presentation stations at the middle and high schools comprised of CPUs, Wide Screen Plasma TVs or Smartboards, Elmo’s, Airliners, and Interwrite Boards. The district has also increased the technology available to students by updating labs and classrooms at each school, and by adding mobile, wireless lab technology at the high school.
