The Zi3 is applying for a “Infy Maker Award.” The award contest is open to K-12 schools and youth-serving organizations who aim to create more opportunities for students to engage in hands-on, interdisciplinary learning through making.

Capital Outlay Project at Upper Elementary Underway; Staircase Removed
In addition to the ongoing capital project, a capital outlay project at the Upper Elementary School is underway. As part of the project, the staircase in the main lobby of the school was removed in December and the main entrance vestibule will be expanded.

2/12/21 - Deer Breaks Through Window at Primary Elementary; No Injuries
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 12, a deer broke through a window in the library at the Primary Elementary School. The deer quickly jumped back out the window. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

2/12/21 - Jr./Sr. High School Students Evacuated Due to Fire Alarm; Cleared to Return
At approximately 8:35 a.m. on Friday, February 12, the fire alarm system at the Jr./Sr. HS activated due to an issue with a rooftop unit over the library. Students and staff were cleared to reenter the Jr./Sr. HS at 8:50 a.m.

BOE Approves High-Risk Sports; Please Complete Paperwork
The Board of Education approved the resumption of high-risk sports (basketball and volleyball) with no spectators. However, in order for high-risk sports to resume and an official start date to be determined, the district must comply with county guidelines.

Bottle & Can Drive Raises Funds for Five Charities
In a world turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Mulvihill’s seventh and eighth grade math students wanted to make a difference. After more than a week of planning and getting the word out, his students held a Bottle & Can Drive at the Jr./Sr. High School on January 30.

BOE to Make Decision on High-Risk Sports; Virtual Meeting on February 2
On January 22, Governor Cuomo announced high-risk high school sports could resume as early as February 1. The district is hosting a virtual meeting to discuss the potential resumption of high-risk sports on Tuesday, February 2, from 6:00-6:45 p.m.
