Cool to be kind

WESTMORELAND, N.Y.- On Friday, November 3, radio personalities from 97.9 Kiss FM visited Mrs. Bonomo’s First Grade class to throw them a pizza party for their “It’s Cool to be Kind” contest that recognizes acts of kindness.

This contest encourages students from all across the region to be nice to one another. Students are asked to document what they’ve done on a coloring book pizza image. They’re tasked with giving their classmates a compliment, opening a door, telling someone they did a good job, sitting with someone at lunch, picking up trash in the classroom along with a few other good deeds. Mrs. Bonomo’s class was the fourth and final class to be recognized for spreading positivity!

Radio Disk Jockey’s, “Listen It’s Liz” and “Roscoe Red”, delivered the pizza and cookies to the class on Friday afternoon. Mrs. Bonomo said she thinks they will make better decisions based on what they remember when it comes to experiences they’ve had being kind to someone else. She believes practicing these acts of kindness will teach them to process their thoughts before they act on impulse and make thoughtful choices.

NEWSChannel 2 and GPO Federal Credit Union were also there to recognize the students.
