WESTMORELAND, N.Y.- The Westmoreland Central School District will have an emergency “go home” drill on November 21, 2023. This is for all students in the district.
Under the Commissioner of Education’s regulations for Emergency Management, school districts and BOCES must have an annual emergency drill to test their “go home” procedures. School districts within Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES will conduct the drill the day before Thanksgiving break begins.
The regulations say: Early dismissal can be no time earlier than 15 minutes before regular dismissal, parents or guardians must be notified of the drill at least one week in advance and it is recommended that local county emergency-preparedness offices be aware of the drill.
