WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — Jordan DeLong, a freshman at Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School, has been nominated to serve as a Delegate to the prestigious Congress of Future Medical Leaders. The event will be held June 25–27, 2025, just outside of Boston at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The Congress is an honors-only program designed for high school students across the United States who are interested in pursuing careers as physicians or in medical research. Its goal is to honor, inspire, and direct top-performing students in the medical field as they pursue their academic and professional dreams.

Jordan’s nomination was endorsed by Dr. Mario Capecchi, Nobel Prize winner in Medicine and the Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. She was selected based on her academic excellence, leadership potential, and passion for serving humanity through medicine.

Over the three-day event, DeLong will join students from across the country to hear from distinguished leaders in the field, including Nobel Laureates and recipients of the National Medal of Science. The program includes sessions with Ivy League medical school deans, patient testimonials, and inspiring stories from teenage medical prodigies. Attendees will also gain insights into cutting-edge medical research and technologies shaping the future of healthcare.

“This is a crucial moment in America,” the Academy said, “when we need more doctors and medical scientists who are equipped to lead in a rapidly changing world. Students like Jordan represent the future and deserve all the support we can offer.”

The National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists provides free programs and services to students interested in medical careers. These include mentorship opportunities, online networks, guidance on college planning, and training in vital skills like internships, research, and career development.

Based in Washington, D.C. with offices in Boston, the Academy is a nonpartisan organization committed to identifying and mentoring young medical talent nationwide.
