Maddie and Sam

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — Westmoreland Central School District proudly announces that seniors Madalynne Enos and Samantha Ferguson will be honored at the 2025 Section III Athletics Awards Dinner on June 9 at Onondaga Community College.

Both students have demonstrated exceptional dedication to athletics and academics, earning recognition as individual Scholar-Athletes by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). This distinction is awarded to student-athletes who maintain a GPA of 90 or above during their sports season.

Madalynne Enos made history in February 2024 by becoming Westmoreland’s all-time leading scorer in basketball during a game against Frankfort-Schuyler. Her leadership and commitment have set a high standard for future athletes.

Samantha Ferguson, a multi-sport athlete, was recently honored with the Sportsmanship Award at the Oneida County STOP DWI High School Baseball and Softball Classic held in May at Hamilton College. Her dedication to fair play and teamwork exemplifies the spirit of the Scholar-Athlete program.

The NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete program, established in 1991, recognizes students who excel in both academics and athletics. To qualify as an individual Scholar-Athlete, a student must achieve a GPA of 90 or above during their sports season.

Westmoreland Central School District extends heartfelt congratulations to Madalynne and Samantha for their outstanding achievements and for serving as exemplary role models in our community.
