The Westmoreland Central School District is excited to welcome Shannon McCracken as a 6th Grade Special Education Teacher!
Shannon joins us from the Oswego City School District, where she taught 5th grade. Prior to that, she worked with students in the Addison Central School District. Her love for teaching has taken her across New York State, but she is thrilled to now call Westmoreland home.
Shannon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education from SUNY Fredonia, where she discovered her passion for supporting students with disabilities. That passion led her to pursue a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in Inclusive Education.
Coming from a family of educators, Shannon has always been drawn to the joy of helping students succeed and develop a love of learning. She says she chose Westmoreland because of the district’s reputation throughout the community. “I have family friends from Whitesboro who always say great things about Westmoreland and the benefits of small, but tight-knit school districts.”
Outside the classroom, Shannon enjoys exploring music, dancing, hiking, traveling, cooking, and baking. You may even spot her cheering on the Utica Comets or Utica City FC at local games!
Please join us in giving Shannon a warm welcome to our Bulldog family!
