The Westmoreland Central School District is proud to welcome Darlene Benson as a part-time Child Associate PMHP in our Primary Elementary School.
Darlene brings decades of experience working with students as both a licensed social worker and a clinical worker in several school districts. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from Syracuse University and is also a certified school social worker. In addition, she has been actively involved with the New York State School Social Workers’ Association.
When asked why she chose a career in education, Darlene said she believes it is one of the most important jobs a person can have to truly make a difference in the lives of children. “The opportunity was presented to me and having worked in PMHP for five years in the past, it was something I couldn’t pass up!”
Darlene also has strong ties to the district through her son, Gianni Notaro, who teaches history and serves as an instructional coach at Westmoreland.
Outside of her professional work, Darlene enjoys music, reading, and crocheting. She also dedicates her free time to helping the elderly at Acacia Village.
We are thrilled to have Darlene as part of our Bulldog family and look forward to the positive impact she will make in our school community. Welcome, Darlene!
