ACE

Twelve students from the Westmoreland ACE Club recently stepped out of their comfort zones and onto the ice to try a brand-new sport: curling. For every student in attendance, this outing marked their very first experience with the unique and exciting winter sport.

Advisor Mrs. DeCarolis confirmed that none of the students had ever curled before, making the trip an opportunity for true first-time learning. With guidance from members of the Utica Curling Club, students quickly learned the basics of the game, including how to deliver the stone, sweep the ice, and work together as a team.

From the moment they stepped onto the ice, the students were engaged, curious, and eager to give it their all. Laughter, encouragement, and teamwork filled the rink as students practiced their skills and cheered each other on. Despite being beginners, the group showed great determination and sportsmanship throughout the experience.

The ACE Club members all agreed that the trip was both fun and memorable. Trying something completely new helped build confidence, strengthen friendships, and reinforce the importance of teamwork and perseverance.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the Utica Curling Club for hosting the Westmoreland ACE Club and providing such a welcoming, hands-on experience. It was truly a great day on the ice and an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
