On January 23, the Westmoreland Girls JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams teamed up with the American Cancer Society to participate in Spike Out Cancer, a national program led by volleyball coaches and teams dedicated to supporting the fight against cancer.
Spike Out Cancer aligns with the American Cancer Society’s vision to end cancer as we know it. With every serve and every spike, teams across the country work to raise funds for cancer research and patient support programs. Westmoreland’s Lady Bulldogs proudly joined this effort during Friday night’s match.
Through generous donations, raffles, and baked goods sales during the game, the Lady Bulldogs raised $365 for the American Cancer Society. The players also wore pink jerseys, which not only helped raise awareness for breast cancer but symbolized solidarity with those who have been impacted by this disease.
Events like Spike Out Cancer serve as a powerful reminder that sports are about more than competition. They provide an opportunity to unite, support important causes, and uplift the community. The Westmoreland Girls Volleyball program is proud to stand together in the fight against cancer and grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this meaningful event.
