The Westmoreland Teachers Association is proud to recognize Aniras Haas as the January 2026 WTA Student of the Month.
Each month, all members of the junior class are eligible for this award, with recipients selected by faculty and staff. Criteria include maintaining a minimum average of 80, demonstrating good citizenship and character, and showing active participation in school and community activities.
Aniras exemplifies all of these qualities and more. She is highly involved in numerous school organizations, including Drama Club (Publicity), National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, Select Choir, Tri-M Music Honor Society (Publicity and Community Service Chairperson), Chorus, Band, Marching Band (Publicity), Basketball Band, Broadway Voices, Volleyball, Junior High All-County, NYSSMA, and Conference All-State Alternate.
Her commitment extends beyond the school day through a wide range of community service activities. Aniras has contributed her time and talents to hair and makeup for the Westmoreland Drama Club, Operation Christmas Child, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Talent Show support, cemetery clean-ups, and stage crew roles for Anastasia, Madagascar, and The Nutcracker.
Looking ahead, Aniras plans to attend a four-year college, with aspirations to major in a music-related field or political science. She is the daughter of Sarina Haas.
