The Westmoreland/Oriskany High School Girls Varsity Flag Football program marks a historic milestone for our school and community, joining a nationwide movement that is reshaping opportunities for young women in athletics.
Competing in the 7-on-7 format under the newly established NFHS Flag Football Rules—the first national playing rules written specifically for high school flag football—this program represents the cutting edge of interscholastic sports. These standardized rules are helping to expand access and create consistent, competitive opportunities for student-athletes across the country.
Flag football continues to grow at a rapid pace, with nearly 69,000 girls participating across more than 2,700 schools nationwide. By launching this program, Westmoreland High School is proud to be part of that momentum, offering students a fast-paced, competitive, and modern version of the game.
Under the leadership of Coach Tim Moore and Assistant Coach Jack Williams, the team is building a strong foundation rooted in teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship. As the program begins its inaugural season, it reflects both the district’s commitment to expanding athletic opportunities and the enthusiasm of student-athletes eager to be part of something new and exciting.
