Dave Langone was recently appointed Interim Athletic Administrator by the Westmoreland Central School District Board of Education.

Mr. Langone, an educator for more than 40 years, brings a wealth of experience to the position. He retired as Superintendent of Schools at the Whitesboro Central School District in 2016, a position he held for eight years, and most recently served as the Interim Principal at Westmoreland Middle School before it became the Upper Elementary School for the 2018-19 school year.

Prior to his employment with Whitesboro, Mr. Langone held various positions at the New York Mills Union Free School District for a total of 16 years, including Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent and Jr./Sr. High School Principal. Mr. Langone was also an Assistant Principal, Teacher and Coach at the New York Mills, Holland Patent, Utica City and Frankfort-Schuyler school districts, along with Utica Catholic Schools.

“As a former coach who has always had a passion for athletics, I am excited to be a Westmoreland Bulldog,” Mr. Langone said. “I look forward to working with Westmoreland’s student-athletes, coaches, teams and community to help ensure their continued success.”

Mr. Langone replaces John Sharrino, who retired on November 9 after spending the last 13 years at the Westmoreland Central School District.

Mr. Langone and Mr. Sharrino share a special bond.

“My first job as a coach out of college was with John,” explained Mr. Langone. “He was the head coach of the Frankfort Varsity Football team, and I was one of his assistants. Things have definitely come full circle, and I wish him a great retirement.”

The Westmoreland Central School District welcomes Mr. Langone!
