Determined to earn a victory in its final game of the 2018-19 season, the Westmoreland Girls Varsity Basketball team got off to a good start against Mount Markham on Senior Night, at home, on February 11.  

Seniors

The Lady Bulldogs led Mount Markham 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, but went scoreless in the second quarter, eventually falling 50-39.

Samantha Wilson led Westmoreland with 14 points and four 3-pointers. Senior Emily Kernan chipped in 11 points. Hayleigh Gates of Mt. Markham led all scorers with 18 points.

Despite the loss, Westmoreland’s 11-point defeat is a big improvement from the last time the team took on Mount Markham. The Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Mustangs on January 22, 62-31.

Westmoreland finishes the 2018-19 season with a 2-18 overall record, with wins over Richfield Springs and New York Mills. With the victory, Mount Markham improved to 10-10 overall.

Congratulations to Westmoreland’s three seniors - - Emily Kernan, Ashley Murphy and Grace Rautenstrauch - - on a great career, and best of luck to the team next year!
