Dear Parents/Guardians,

There have been multiple cases of strep throat in the Primary Elementary building. Please monitor your child(ren) for the following symptoms:

-Sore throat
-Headache with nausea
-Fever
-Pain with swallowing
-Fatigue
-Rash
-Decreased appetite
-Change in mood/behavior

If your child(ren) exhibits some or all of these symptoms, please keep them home and contact your health care provider. The only way to prevent the spread of the illness in school is to keep sick children at home.

As a gentle reminder, district policy states a child must be 24 hours fever free with no Tylenol or Ibuprofen, and also 24 hours free of vomiting or diarrhea, before returning to school.

When students are ill, it is extremely important to keep your child(ren) hydrated. As with any illness, getting a new toothbrush and washing linens in hot water may help prevent re-infection.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the health office between 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on school days.

Sincerely,

Alicia M. Brown, R.N.
