May, 2019
Dear Upper Elementary Families,
We are hitting the homestretch of the school year as we enter the month of May. The
students and staff here at school are looking forward to warm weather, field trips, and all
the fun that takes place in May and June. As the end of the year approaches, keep in mind
that we are still very focused on learning. Our 4th grade students will be taking the NYS
4th Grade Science Test in two parts, on May 29, 2019 and June 3, 2019.
Another important point to consider, even in the last quarter of the year, is student
attendance. I would like to add that good attendance habits in elementary school transfer
easily to middle and high school. Let us all work to establish good habits that will foster
independence and school success for all of our students.
As we head into field trip season, please be mindful of returning all paperwork in a timely
fashion. Our Westmoreland PTO funds some aspects of our field trips here, which is a
huge financial contribution. Thank you PTO!!
There are many events happening in our school community during these last two months of
the school year. Continue to check our website and district calendar and your email for
information regarding spring concerts, 6th Grade Moving Up Ceremony, Olympic Day and
all of our field trips and many other fun and engaging activities for our students and
families.
As always, if you need assistance with anything, or have any questions regarding the Upper
Elementary, please contact me.
