The “Memory Project” recently featured the Westmoreland Art Department on its website.
Mrs. Notaro, Jr./Sr. High School art teacher, learned about the nonprofit’s “Face-to-Face” program at the New York State Art Teachers Association Conference in 2017, where she received a curriculum kit. This spring, and as part of the program, her students created portraits of children and adults who were murdered during the Holocaust.
On May 14, the portraits were displayed at the 8th Grade “World War II and Holocaust Museum” at the Jr./Sr. High School. The museum showcases various projects completed by eighth grade students related to World War II and the Holocaust.
