Sixteen students were formally inducted into the Westmoreland National Junior Honor Society during a special ceremony held in the Jr./Sr. High School auditorium on June 10.  Inductees reciting pledge

The ceremony commenced with the inductees entering the auditorium to music performed by the Jr./Sr. High School Saxophone Ensemble. The ensemble also performed the alma mater and national anthem.

Prior to the induction, five current National Junior Honor Society members participated in a candle lighting ceremony and spoke about the areas inductees were judged on. Lauren Stephens spoke about scholarship; Kaitlyn Amarasinghe spoke about service; Katherine Hansson spoke about leadership; Hayley Breen spoke about character; and Mary Muller spoke about citizenship. Mrs. Miller, National Junior Honor Society advisor, also offered remarks.

After the ceremony, a brief reception was held in the cafeteria.
