The Westmoreland Central School District is pleased and excited to welcome several new staff members for the 2019-20 school year.

Mr. Adey - Interim Athletic Director

Michael Adey was recently appointed Interim Athletic Director by the Westmoreland Central School District Board of Education. He is succeeding Interim A.D. Dave Langone.  Michael Adey

Mr. Adey brings a wealth of experience to the position. He previously served as Director of Athletics at Rome Catholic and New York Mills. He is, perhaps, best known for his time as a coach. With 566 wins, Mr. Adey is the winningest boys’ basketball coach in Section III history. His teams at New York Mills won two Class D state championships (2011 and 2014) and seven straight Section III titles (2009-2015).

Outside of work, Mr. Adey is the director of the Michelle M. Adey Memorial Fund and serves on the board of directors for the Basketball Coaches Association of New York and Coaches vs. Cancer of the Mohawk Valley.

Mr. Liddy - Social Studies Teacher, Jr./Sr. High School

Brandon Liddy is joining the Westmoreland Central School District as a social studies teacher at the Jr./Sr. High School for the 2019-20 school year.  Mr. Liddy

Mr. Liddy, previously a teaching assistant at Rome Free Academy, earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from Seton Hall University and Master’s degree in Museum Studies from Marist College. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Adolescent Education from Utica College.

“I want to be able to give students a place to discuss ideas, share experiences and feel safe, while learning,” Mr. Liddy said. “I grew up in Rome and many of my family members are from Oriskany, so I feel at ‘home’ working in a community like Westmoreland that is so invested in its future.”

In his spare time, Mr. Liddy enjoys going to the gym, watching documentaries, traveling and reading.

Mr. Mulvihill - Math Teacher, Jr./Sr. High School

Michael Mulvihill is joining the Westmoreland Central School District as a math teacher at the Jr./Sr. High School for the 2019-20 school year.  Mr. Mulvihill

Mr. Mulvihill earned his Bachelor’s degree in Adolescence Education from Canisius College and Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Syracuse University. He most recently was a long-term eighth grade substitute teacher at Jamesville-DeWitt Middle School. He student taught at Sweet Home Senior High School in Amherst and Highgate Heights School in Buffalo.

Mr. Mulvihill says he hopes he can make a positive difference in his students’ lives and is excited about joining the Westmoreland Central School District.

“Westmoreland’s commitment to educating students for growth inside and outside the classroom was a key reason I wanted to work at Westmoreland,” Mr. Mulvihill explained. “The staff’s incredible support and welcome was also so attractive and made me want to jump on board!”

In his spare time, Mr. Mulvihill enjoys watching and playing sports, movies, fishing, hiking and hanging out with family and friends. He is also a little league and lacrosse coach. While enrolled at Canisius College, he volunteered in the school’s sandwich ministry program. Students in the program make sandwiches, hot chocolate and cookies and serve them to the marginalized and homeless population.

Ms. Noto - Kindergarten Teacher, Primary Elementary

Kristina Noto is joining the Westmoreland Central School District as a kindergarten teacher at the Primary Elementary School for the 2019-20 school year.  Ms. Noto

Ms. Noto previously worked at the Adirondack Central School District for the past 12 years, where she spent time teaching pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade and second grade. She earned her Bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College and Master's degree from The College of St. Rose.

Ms. Noto says Westmoreland is a "great" district.

"I've always wanted to be a teacher and help kids learn and grow," she said.

In her spare time, Ms. Noto enjoys reading, going to concerts and walking her two labs.

Mr. Owens - Technology Teacher, Upper Elementary

Travis Owens is joining the Westmoreland Central School District as a technology teacher at the Upper Elementary School for the 2019-20 school year.  Mr. Owens

Mr. Owens previously worked at the Madison and Clinton school districts. He attended SUNY Oswego and SUNY Poly.

Mr. Owens says he is looking forward to teaching in his “home district.”

“My daughter will be starting kindergarten at the Primary Elementary School in the fall,” Mr. Owens said. “The strong emphasis Westmoreland places on ‘STEAM’ (science-technology-engineering-art-math) was also appealing.”

In his spare time, Mr. Owens enjoys sports and the outdoors and is a volunteer AYSO coach, officiates girls’ basketball and teaches driver’s education. He is a former Optimist Biddy Basketball coach and EMT.

Mr. Snell - Math Teacher, Jr./Sr. High School

Christopher Snell is joining the Westmoreland Central School District as a math teacher at the Jr./Sr. High School for the 2019-20 school year.  Mr. Snell

Mr. Snell has more than a decade of teaching experience at both the high school and college level in various subjects, including math, physics, computer science and engineering.

“You can make such a big impact through teaching,” Mr. Snell, when asked why he chose to become a teacher, said. “Westmoreland, like myself, strives to bring the future to education and transform students into lifelong learners.”

Mr. Snell earned his Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Master’s degree in Learning and Technology. He is also a Mohawk Valley “Master Teacher.”

In his spare time, Mr. Snell enjoys art, percussion and boxing. He is also a volunteer for several charity walks and runs, little league coach and tutor.

Shannon Haggerty, already employed with the Westmoreland Central School District, was appointed as an enrichment teacher. Christine Lawrence was hired as a senior account clerk.
