A day after the Girls Varsity Soccer team won its first round sectional match, the Boys Varsity Soccer team did the same.
The boys team, seeded fourth, defeated No. 13 seed Cooperstown 3-2 in the first round of the Section III Class C playoffs on October 23. The game was played at Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School. 
Westmoreland-Oriskany led Cooperstown 3-0 at halftime, and then held on for the win.
Caleb Miller (two goals) and Trevor Tamburino (one goal) scored for Westmoreland-Oriskany. Goalkeeper, Andrew Pysnik, may have had the play of the game - - he stopped a penalty kick!
With the win, Westmoreland-Oriskany advances to the Section III Class C quarterfinals. Westmoreland-Oriskany will play No. 12 seed Tully on Friday, October 25, at 3:00 p.m., at Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School.
