The “Pride of Westmoreland” Marching Band had another terrific year!

The band placed fourth at the New York State Field Band Conference at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on October 27. The conference is the culminating competition of the season.  Performing for BOE

The “Pride of Westmoreland” Marching Band starts practicing in May to prepare for Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades. Between the parades and over the summer, the band learns and refines its competition show. Competitions begin in September and each weekend during the fall, the band travels across Central New York to compete against other school bands.

Every year, the “Pride of Westmoreland” Marching Band also takes a three-day trip outside of Central New York. This year, the band spent three days in Long Island. While there, the band visited the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Jones Beach and worked with the “Pride of Malverne” Marching Band of the Malverne Central School District.

“We shared lunch, stories and are now following each other on social media,” Kristyn Cutler, “Pride of Westmoreland” Marching Band director, said.

In addition to its musical success, Mrs. Cutler says sixty percent of the students on the “Pride of Westmoreland” Marching Band are honor roll students.

Congratulations to the “Pride of Westmoreland” Marching Band!
