Sabrina Verdgeline, better known as “Miss V.,” is the new school nurse at the Upper Elementary School. Her first official day with the Westmoreland Central School District was January 6.
Sabrina, a registered nurse, was previously a charge nurse on the orthopedic floor at St. Elizabeth Medical Center of the Mohawk Valley Health System. She has an Associate’s degree in Nursing from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
“I have always been interested in working in education,” Sabrina said. “When I was in college, I went back and forth for a long time between majoring in education or nursing. I ultimately chose nursing, but with it, there are so many opportunities to work in different environments. So, the opportunity to join Westmoreland, and combine both of my passions, was one I couldn’t pass up.”
Sabrina is very close with her family, and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her 13-year-old sister, who keeps her very busy, and her two dogs that she rescued, a Rottweiler mix and Australian cattle dog. She also loves the outdoors, especially during the summer, along with running. Her favorite race is the Boilermaker.
“I’m excited to be able to educate students about health and wellness, while still being able to utilize my nursing skills,” Sabrina, when asked about Westmoreland, said.
Welcome to the Westmoreland Central School District, Sabrina! Miss V. is pictured with members of the Upper Elementary School's "Helping Hands" club.
