More than 100 area high school and middle school students, including three students from Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School, will be recognized for their outstanding artwork at the prestigious 2020 Central New York (CNY) Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony at Onondaga Community College (OCC) on January 21.

Nearly 5,000 pieces of artwork from the Central New York region - - consisting of 13 counties and almost 400 eligible schools - - were judged by more than 70 professional artists, educators and photographers. Only 1,200 pieces of artwork are receiving recognition.

The following Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School students will be honored:

Bella Barretta – Silver Key Award and Honorable Mention (Photography)
Kylie McGowan – Honorable Mention (Photography)
Alyssa Buck – Honorable Mention (Drawing)

“These students have been working incredibly hard this year, and their work far exceeds my expectations every time,” Mrs. Notaro, Jr./Sr. High School art teacher, said. “If you see them, please congratulate them. This is a very prestigious award!”

The CNY region has conducted an annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program for more than 70 years. The CNY program is one of the largest in the country.

All winning artwork, including the artwork of Bella, Kylie and Alyssa, will be displayed in the Whitney Applied Technology Center at OCC from January 22 through February 28.
