The Westmoreland Boys Varsity Basketball team kicked off the Section III Class C playoffs with a convincing win.
The Bulldogs, seeded No. 16, defeated Tully, seeded No. 17, 75-49 in a “play-in” game on February 20. The game was played at Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School.
Westmoreland took a commanding 25-12 lead after the first quarter, and never looked back.
Junior David Piersall scored a game high 26 points and led a balanced scoring attack for the Bulldogs. Kyle LaGasse (19 points), Josh Suber (11 points) and Matt Doyle (10 points) also scored in double figures.
Lane Edinger led Tully with 13 points.
With the win, Westmoreland (8-13) will play No. 1 seed Weedsport (18-2) on Saturday, February 22, at Weedsport High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Westmoreland and Weedsport have not played each other this season.
