Dear Westmoreland School Community:

On March 28, 2020, Governor Cuomo issued new guidance and directives with regards to the continuation of educational instruction and other services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Governor Cuomo, all school buildings in New York State must remain closed through at least April 15, 2020. Additionally, Governor Cuomo has mandated that remote or virtual educational instruction must continue through previously scheduled vacations and breaks, including Spring Recess. Lunches for students and childcare for essential employees must also remain available.

The Westmoreland Central School District will comply with Governor Cuomo’s latest guidance and directives - - school districts that do not comply, risk losing state aid. With that said, I realize we all - - students, staff and parents - - deserve a break, and I will continue to advocate for one. I also apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause.

In closing, I remain thankful for everyone’s efforts to not only maintain the learning process, but to ensure it is meaningful, relevant and fulfills existing standards. Your patience, flexibility and on-going support is valued. I have no doubt we will come out of this stronger.

Stay Healthy,

Rocco Migliori
Superintendent of Schools
