In a letter to all city mayors, town supervisors, village mayors and school superintendents in Oneida County on April 2, 2020, Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. encouraged all municipalities and school districts to temporarily close public parks, playgrounds, courts and fields to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

According to Picente, at this time, parks should only be used for solitary activities such as running, walking and biking. When people are taking part in these activities, they should be at least six (6) feet away from other people at all times.

Consistent with Picente’s recommendation, all public parks, playgrounds, courts and fields in the Town of Westmoreland and belonging to the Westmoreland Central School District, are temporarily closed.

Thank you for your cooperation.
