Upper Elementary School fifth grade student, Alina Kulpa, placed second in the Rome Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s (DAR) annual “What the U.S. Flag Means to Me” essay contest.
For her second place finish, Alina was awarded $75 and will be honored at a reception later this year. Fellow fifth grade students, Breana Bulger and Nolan Murphy, were named honorable mentions.
All three students take English with Mrs. Parzych, who had all of her students participate in the essay contest. There were 127 total entries.
