Despite school being closed to in-person learning, many classes have still gone on educational field trips - - virtually.

On April 28, kindergarten students took a virtual field trip to Fenner Wind Farm in Madison County.

Mrs. Livermore, Primary Elementary School Librarian, was at the wind farm and served as the tour guide. Using Google Meet, she was able to show and talk about the 20 wind turbines located on the property.

The Fenner Wind Farm was built in 2001. Each wind turbine is 328 feet tall, weighs 190 tons, can spin up to 50 miles per hour and powers 10,000 homes. A single blade on a wind turbine is 113 feet long. Collectively, the 20 wind turbines power 200,000 homes.  Mrs. Livermore

The virtual field trip was the culmination of a lesson on Earth Day and renewable energy.
