Mr. Healy, and his vast experience, has been an important asset to our district. Prior to Westmoreland, Mr. Healy was a computer education coordinator at the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, where he developed educational programs and resources for districts across New York state, and a biology and physics teacher at the Holland Patent Central School District.

He says the decision to leave was not an easy one to make.

“The Westmoreland staff and community have been so welcoming and supportive over the last three years, and that is what made this decision so difficult,” Mr. Healy said. “I will miss being part of the Westmoreland team, but will now look forward to new opportunities for myself and my family. As you may know, Oneida is my home district, and provides an opportunity for me to make positive change in my own community.”

At its meeting on May 12, the Westmoreland Central School District Board of Education appointed Upper Elementary School Principal Mr. Stephen Polera to the position of Director of Pupil Personnel/Curriculum K-12, effective July 1, 2020.

Mr. Polera has been the principal at the Upper Elementary School for the past two years. Prior to Westmoreland, Mr. Polera was an elementary principal in the Syracuse City School District and a math teacher at Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica.

The Westmoreland Central School District congratulates both Mr. Healy and Mr. Polera on their new positions, and wishes them well!
