Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order 202.26, upcoming school budget votes and school board elections must be held by absentee ballot only. The Westmoreland Central School District utilized a registry from the Oneida County Board of Elections to mail absentee ballots to qualified voters residing in the Westmoreland Central School District.
It has been brought to the district’s attention that some qualified district voters mistakenly received an absentee ballot from another school district. If a qualified voter received an incorrect absentee ballot, it should be discarded and the voter should contact Mary Ann Hawkins, district clerk, for a Westmoreland ballot. Mrs. Hawkins can be reached by phone at (315) 557-2658 or email at mhawkins@westmorelandschool.org.
Approximately one week ago, and per the Governor’s Executive Order 202.26, every qualified voter in the Westmoreland Central School District was sent an absentee ballot together with a postage-paid return envelope and instructions for completing the same. To be counted, all completed absentee ballots must be dropped off at the Office of the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, or mailed and received by the Office of the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Also, please note, per an executive order from the Governor, June 9, 2020 was the deadline for a voter to request and receive an absentee ballot.
When returning an absentee ballot, voters should make sure that:
1. Only one absentee ballot is in a return envelope; and
2. The return envelope includes a signature and address.
As an alternative to traditional mail, there will be a secure drop box at the entrance of the Westmoreland district offices on Friday, June 5, and Monday, June 8, from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and Tuesday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
