Trevor Haskell is the new principal at the Upper Elementary School.
Mr. Haskell was formally appointed to the position by the Board of Education on July 14, 2020. His first official day with the district was July 15.
Prior to joining Westmoreland, Mr. Haskell was a third and fourth grade teacher at J.D. George Elementary School in the VVS Central School District for four years. He also previously served as a long term substitute second grade teacher in the Oneida City School District for one year.
Mr. Haskell, who says he decided to become an educator because “education is one of the foundations of a productive life that can lead to opportunities for all,” is excited to be a part of the Westmoreland team.
“I chose Westmoreland to begin my leadership career because of the excellent reputation it has for academics, quality of education and community support,” Mr. Haskell said. “I am looking forward to working with all stakeholders to provide the best education for children.”
Mr. Haskell earned his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from St. Bonaventure University, where he was also a member of the Division 1 Men’s Tennis team, Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Walden University and Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building and School District Leadership from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
In his spare time, Mr. Haskell enjoys tennis, running, Notre Dame football and traveling. He is also a volunteer AAU basketball coach.
“I look forward to engaging with the community and staff to continue to make Westmoreland a positive learning environment for students,” Mr. Haskell added.
Mr. Haskell replaced Mr. Stephen Polera, who was appointed the new Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Pupil Personnel for the Westmoreland Central School District in June.
Welcome to Westmoreland, Mr. Haskell!
