The Westmoreland Girls Varsity Soccer team kicked off its shortened season at home against Sauquoit Valley on October 5. Before the start of the game, Westmoreland honored its four seniors with a brief “Senior Night” ceremony at midfield.
Unfortunately, Westmoreland, who returns most of its players from last season, fell to Sauquoit, 3-0.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start, giving up a goal within the first couple minutes of the game.
Alyssa Shepherd, Alena Weibel and Kaitlyn Corr each scored for Sauquoit. Hailey Postol made nine saves for Westmoreland.
Westmoreland avenged the tough loss with a big 10-0 road win over Canastota on October 6.
Westmoreland’s (1-1) next game is on Thursday, October 8, at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs are hosting Utica Academy of Science.
Congratulations to Westmoreland’s four seniors - - Clare Calogero, Alivia Enos, MacKenzie Magnusson and Hailey Postol - - and best of luck to the entire team the rest of the season!
