Poland, the defending Class D sectional champion and winner of 10 sectional championships, was no match for the Bulldogs. After a tight first half, Westmoreland-Oriskany outscored the Tornadoes 3-0 in the second half.

Westmoreland-Oriskany was led by Jesse Sweet’s hat trick. Caleb Miller scored the team’s other two goals and also had two assists. Andrew Pysnik made 12 saves.

Poland’s lone goal was scored by Jason Victor. He was assisted by Ethan Broadbent.

Before the start of the game, Westmoreland-Oriskany honored its six seniors - - Patrick Amarasinghe, Joseph Behr, Brady Morris, Andrew Pysnik, Trevor Tamburino and Christian Uvino - - with a brief “Senior Night” ceremony at midfield.

Westmoreland-Oriskany’s (2-0) next game is on Friday, October 9, at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs travel to Mount Markham.

Congratulations to Westmoreland-Oriskany’s six seniors, and best of luck to the entire team the rest of the season!
