The annual “Westmoreland Holiday Drive” organized by school social workers, Kristen Muir and Amy Poplarski, was another great success.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the 2020 drive, Muir and Poplarski solicited cash donations instead of collecting toys. The cash donations were used to purchase gift cards, which were then distributed to district families in need.
This year, 7 Hamlets Brewing Company in Westmoreland joined in on the effort, raising and donating $2,000 to the cause. In all, the local business and district staff raised more than $5,000.
“We didn’t want COVID-19 to prevent us from spreading holiday cheer,” Muir said. “The gift cards helped many district families meet their various holiday needs – from the purchase of groceries to presents. The support from 7 Hamlets Brewing Company allowed us to assist even more families.”
The holiday drive enabled more than 40 district families to receive gift cards.
Muir and Poplarski are thankful for everyone who donated, especially 7 Hamlets Brewing Company.
