The Upper Elementary School celebrated a Dr. Seuss themed “Read Across America Week” March 1-5.

Each day during the week-long celebration, Upper Elementary School Principal Mr. Haskell recorded a read-aloud of a Dr. Seuss book for students in grades 3-6 to enjoy.  Group photo

Monday, March 1 – “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”

Tuesday, March 2 – “Cat in the Hat”

Wednesday, March 3 – “Wacky Wednesday”

Thursday, March 4 – “Fox in Socks”

Friday, March 5 – “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”

On March 1, every student received a bag of goldfish to go along with the book, “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.” On March 2-5, students were encouraged to dress up according to the theme of the day’s book.

“Read Across America Week” culminated on March 5 with “Drop Everything and Read” (DEAR) time. At 9:15 a.m., students dropped everything they were doing and read a book of their choice for 15 minutes.

We hope the reading will continue year-round!
