Dear Parents/Guardians:
This afternoon, we learned a sixth grade student tested positive for COVID-19. Due to privacy laws, we are not able to share the identity of the student or share details of their case. However, we can confirm that the student was last in school on Monday, March 15.
The district is currently working with the Oneida County Department of Health to complete contact tracing. All individuals determined to have been a “close contact” will be contacted and placed into precautionary quarantine unless it is determined not to be necessary in accordance with state and county guidelines. In-person learning at the Upper Elementary School will resume as normal.
As always, the safety and well-being of our students, staff and community are our number one priority. Despite the recent decrease in daily positive COVID-19 cases in our region, it is impossible to completely eliminate the risks COVID-19 poses and it is important to remain vigilant.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding and patience. Please remember to follow all protocols concerning COVID-19, including the wearing of a mask, frequent hand washing and social distancing.
Sincerely,
Rocco Migliori
Superintendent of Schools
