Second grade students wrapped up a unit on weaving with a special virtual presentation by weaver, Laureen Whitney.

During the week of April 19, Whitney conducted a Google Meet with each of Mrs. Livermore’s second grade library classes. Whitney talked about the history and many types of weaving – she even showed off some of her work.

The weaving unit is part of the second grade curriculum. As part of the unit, students also read the book, Goat in the Rug, discussed the origins of weaving in library class and created a weaving project in art class – culminating in a successful collaboration.

Whitney’s virtual visit was organized by Mrs. Livermore, school librarian.
