Dear School Community:

As communicated to you on June 6, there has not been any official legal change in the mask mandate from the New York State Education Department, New York State Department of Health or Governor Cuomo.

The June 4, 2021, letter by New York State Health Commissioner Zucker reported by the media on Friday, was written to the CDC to determine if the CDC has any objection to relaxing its mask mandate. However, unless and until written guidance or an Executive Order is issued by the State, all students, staff and visitors must wear masks while on school property.

If New York State is able to, and does, relax its mask mandate requiring all students, staff and visitors in school to wear a mask at all times, it is important to know how the school community feels about this issue.

Please take a moment to take a brief survey to inform us if you would be comfortable with the district amending its Reopening Plan to make the wearing of masks optional.

In the meantime, any changes to mask wearing requirements at school we will be promptly communicated.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Rocco Migliori
Superintendent of Schools
