On September 7, 2021, Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol sent a letter to all potentially vulnerable communities in Oneida County, including schools, about ways to obtain important information regarding sex offenders.

According to Sheriff Maciol, for information regarding sex offenders, visit the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) website and click on the Sex Offender link. To receive free alerts via email, text message or fax whenever a Level 2 or Level 3 sex offender listed on the DCJS website moves into or out of a community or location of interest to you and your family, visit www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/nsor. To obtain information about Level 1 offenders whose risk levels have not been determined by a judge, you may call 1-800-262-3257, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (excluding legal holidays). Callers must have an individual’s name and an exact address, date of birth, driver’s license number OR Social Security number to learn if that individual is on the Registry. The DCJS may be contacted at 1-800-262-3257 by anyone who does not have access to the internet.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office also provides “OffenderWatch” for Oneida County residents. “OffenderWatch” is the nation’s leading sex offender management and community notification tool. You can review its content at www.oneidacountysheriff.us and sign up for notifications.
