The “Wear Pink Day” was organized by the Westmoreland Teachers Association, which has a team participating in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica on October 24. The team is made up of Mrs. Haggerty, Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Parzych, Mrs. Wicks, Ms. Brown and Mrs. Cleveland.

“Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walks are an initiative of the American Cancer Society, and take place all over the country. The walks raise money to help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and provide patient services like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near treatment and a live 24/7 cancer helpline.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated annually in October to raise awareness about the impacts of breast cancer. The charcuterie board that Mrs. Wicks is holding in the photo to the right was made and donated by Mr. Boisen.
