Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Westmoreland Central School District strives to provide the best education for students in a safe and healthy environment. Unfortunately, we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a higher number of cases now compared to last summer. As a result, it remains critically important that we continue to follow all local, state and federal protocols that are intended to keep students and staff safe. 
In the event your child has to quarantine due to exposure to a positive COVID-19 individual or is in mandatory isolation as a result of contracting COVID-19, the district will offer synchronized remote instruction (English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading Intervention and Special Education services). Importantly – synchronized remote instruction will only be offered to students who have been officially quarantined or isolated by the Oneida County Department of Health. The official quarantine or isolation order must also be provided to the district. This will apply to all students.
*Effective November 4, 2021, synchronized remote instruction will also be offered to students awaiting PCR test results.*
If your child misses school for reasons unrelated to COVID-19, his or her absence will be treated like an absence prior to the pandemic and your child will be able to make up missed work with their teacher(s) upon returning to school. If your child is out of school for an extended period of time due to quarantine or isolation, there may be materials that need to be picked up at school so they can adequately participate in synchronized remote instruction. We respectfully ask that you give teachers at least one-day notice to gather and/or upload materials to Google Classroom.
As a reminder, if your child is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, a negative PCR test is required in order to return to school. The test result can be emailed or faxed to your child’s school or sent in with your child.
