Senior Josh Suber doesn’t graduate from Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School until next June, but he’s already gaining valuable experience in his preferred career field.
Suber successfully interviewed for a paid internship at PAR Government Systems Corporation in Rome. He officially started at the company in early November.
PAR Government Systems Corporation offers advanced research and development for the United States government, specifically operational and commercial solutions. In his role with PAR Government Systems Corporation, Suber troubleshoots code for software programs. He’s able to work remotely.
Suber, an aspiring computer engineer, will be attending a four-year college next fall to major in computer engineering. He has applied to Carnegie Mellon University and Stony Brook University.
Suber’s paid internship at PAR Government Systems Corporation was made possible through his participation in the Jr./Sr. High School’s College & Career Enrichment Program. As part of the program, every senior has several, unique opportunities to shadow a professional in his or her work environment.
“You get to learn about a bunch of careers,” Suber said. “The program helps you decide what you are interested in, and maybe not interested in, and would like to pursue.”
In addition to his paid internship at PAR Government Systems Corporation, Suber has also met with a software engineer, electrical engineer and cyber-security student at Utica College.
Congratulations on the paid internship, Josh!
