November 22, 2021
Dear School Community:
I have a few announcements to share with you before the start of Thanksgiving Recess.
First –
The Upstate Family Health Center is hosting another COVID-19 vaccination clinic at our district on Tuesday, November 30, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., in the Primary Elementary School cafeteria. Initial vaccination for children ages 5-11 and booster shots for those 18 and older will be offered (Pfizer vaccine only). There is no need to sign-up, but please complete a very brief survey on the school website to indicate if you are requesting an initial vaccination for a 5-to-11 year-old or booster shot for someone 18 and older. Also – if your child is already fully vaccinated, please notify his or her school nurse. After an exposure, fully vaccinated children only need to quarantine if they become symptomatic.
Second –
On Tuesday, November 23, we will be conducting a New York State mandated “Go Home Early” drill. As part of the drill, all students will be dismissed about 15 minutes before their normal dismissal time. The drill allows us to practice mobilizing busses earlier than normal should we ever have to close and/or evacuate school unexpectedly.
Third –
As many of you know, numerous students and staff members have had to quarantine due to COVID-19 over the past few weeks. Some of the quarantines were traced to Halloween events, youth sports, normal gatherings and bussing. While we fully understand the inconveniences caused by quarantine, please remember quarantine is dictated by New York State Department of Health and Oneida County Department of Health policy, not district policy. Consequently, if you are informed by the district that your child must quarantine, the district is simply following state and county protocols.
As always, thank you for your continued support, understanding and patience. I hope everyone has a great and healthy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Rocco Migliori
Superintendent of Schools
