Thanks to the generosity of the school community and a local business, several district families received a special gift this holiday season.
School social workers, Kristen Muir and Amy Poplarski, once again spearheaded the annual “Westmoreland Holiday Drive.” During the month of November, both collected cash donations, which were used to purchase Wal-Mart gift cards for district families in need. Thirty families received a gift card – totaling more than $4,000.
“The gift cards helped many district families meet their various holiday needs – from the purchase of groceries to presents,” Mrs. Muir said.
For the second year in a row, 7 Hamlets Brewing Company in Westmoreland and its patrons made a large donation to the cause.
“The drive is a tremendous blessing to so many families in our community,” Mrs. Muir added. “We are also extremely appreciative of 7 Hamlets’ support. We would not be as successful without their help.”
Thank you to everyone who donated!
