The world may be big in size, but in some way, shape or form, many of us are interconnected.
The Upper Elementary School’s third grade students discovered that first hand when they met Westmoreland’s very own foreign exchange student, Max Staver.
Max, who is from Moldova – a small country in Eastern Europe located between Romania and Ukraine – is attending the Jr./Sr. High School as a junior. On January 18, he spoke to third grade students about his home country. In addition to telling students about his family and where he lives, Max discussed Moldova’s government, culture, popular attractions, currency and education system. To students’ surprise, there were many similarities between Moldova and the United States, along with differences.
Max’s presentation complemented the third grade social studies curriculum. Prior to his presentation, students learned how culture makes us similar and different in library class.
Thank you, Max, for taking the time to speak with the third grade class!
