students in front of a wall of abstract art

The Jr./Sr. High School’s Art 2 students had the chance to view some of the best artwork our country has to offer.

Group photoThe students visited the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse on February 11. The Everson Museum of Art was the first museum to dedicate itself to the collection of American art and create a permanent collection of ceramics, collect video art and create a docent program. It is home to more than 10,000 works of art – American paintings, sculpture, drawings, video, graphics and one of the largest holdings of international ceramics in the nation.

Before touring the Everson Museum of Art, students viewed more than 1,000 pieces of artwork on display at Onondaga Community College (OCC), including artwork created by Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School sophomore Olivia Moore. All of the artwork on display earned recognition at the prestigious 2022 Central New York (CNY) Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony at OCC on January 22. Olivia received an “Honorable Mention” for her artwork.

The artwork will be on display at OCC through March 4.
