The Primary Elementary School held a “March Reading Challenge” during the month of March. The goal was for students and staff to read enough books to create a chain of book titles around the entire school.  two students eating ice cream

Participating students were asked to read a book at home, either independently or with a family member. For every book read, students wrote the name of the book title on a chain link. The chain links were then brought to school, cut out and added to the “school chain.” Students received a reward every time they returned a completed packet of chain links.

The “Green Team” returned the most chain links. As a school, students and staff read more than 7,000 books, reading “all the way around the school!” In celebration of the achievement, there was a building-wide ice cream party on April 22. Ice cream and toppings were donated by Stewarts.

The “March Reading Challenge” also included a “Read Around the School Spirit Week.” The following themes were celebrated:

Monday, March 28 – “Hats Off to Reading” (wear hats)
Tuesday, March 29 – “PAWsitively Wild About Reading” (wear animal print or Bulldog gear)
Wednesday, March 30 – “Read a Shirt Day” (wear a shirt with words on it)
Thursday, March 31 – “Team Up for Reading Day” (wear sports jerseys/sports clothes)
Friday, April 1 – “We READ ALL Month” (wear red)

Thank you to all of the Primary Elementary School families who participated in the “March Reading Challenge!” The Primary Elementary School also thanks Stewarts for its generosity!
