Seventy-nine Westmoreland students in grades 5-12 participated in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo and Ensemble Festival at Central Valley Academy May 13-14.
At the festival, students performed solos and duets for an adjudicator so they could receive constructive criticism to improve future performances. Students who competed at levels 5, 6 and All-State 6 may be considered for festivals during the 2022-23 school year, including Area All-State and Conference All-State.
The following Westmoreland students received a perfect score:
Levels 1-4 Solos – Sean Acee, Mackenzie Hayes, Adeline Hinman, Abigail Robinson, Madison Robinson, Cody Schmidt and Kamdyn Stanek
Duets – Allison Davis and Margaret Edwards (vocal), Allison Davis and Sophia Larish (vocal) and Natalie Robinson and Bailey Metzger (woodwind)
Bailey Metzger received the highest instrumental score for Westmoreland on the alto saxophone – a level 6 score of 97 out of 100. Allison Davis, soprano, received the highest vocal score for Westmoreland – an All-State level 6 score of 100 out of 100.
