The Westmoreland Varsity Baseball team inched closer to a section title by defeating Mount Markham in a quarterfinal Section III Class C playoff game on May 26 at Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School.
The now 18-0 and No 1. seeded Bulldogs beat No. 8 seed Mount Markham 14-4. 
Westmoreland shot out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, but Mount Markham scored two runs in the top of the third inning and another two runs in the top of the fourth inning to make it 7-4. However, Mount Markham failed to score another run and Westmoreland went on to score seven more.
With the win, Westmoreland advances to the Section III Class C semifinals and will play No. 12 LaFayette (9-8) on Saturday, May 28, at Murnane Stadium in Utica, at 7:00 p.m.
LaFayette beat Port Byron in the first round and Fabius-Pompey in the quarterfinals.
