All good things must come to an end.

The undefeated Westmoreland Varsity Baseball team fell to Adirondack 6-2 in the Section III Class C championship game on May 31 at Onondaga Community College.  Westmo logo

Despite defeating No. 11 seed Adirondack twice during the regular season, the No. 1 seeded Bulldogs could not overcome Adirondack’s tough pitching led by Colin White. The Adirondack junior pitched six-plus innings, and in spite of giving up nine hits, struck out nine batters and only gave up two runs to earn the win.

Westmoreland led 1-0 after the first inning, but Adirondack went on to score two runs in the top of the second inning, two runs in the top of the third inning and two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Westmoreland scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was the first time all season Westmoreland did not score at least four runs.

Westmoreland finishes the 2022 season with a 19-1 record. With the win, Adirondack improves to 12-11 – the first time the team is above .500 this season – and is 8-1 in their last nine games.

Adirondack will play Lansing of Section IV in the New York State Class C regionals on Saturday, June 4, at Onondaga Community College.

Congratulations to Westmoreland on an outstanding season and an amazing 19-0 start, which will always be remembered!
